The QRP-Contest-Community (qrpcc) cordially is inviting to the

              47th O R I G I N A L - Q R P - C O N T E S T ( OQRPC )
              -----------------------------------------------------------

The contest idea is to promote creative or unconventional QRP-hamming like
homebrewing or just doing it without your usual 'luxurious' QRO equipment.

This event more than other contests has a meeting character.
The result lists show that many operators are taking part only for just an
hour or two with a singleband homebrew rig without any intention of high
 scoring or even winning.
But if they want to prove that QRP operators may be keen operators they are
invited to do so as well.

                           - . . . -

Participants: Operators of original QRP rig, commercial or homebrew,
including QRP rig exceeding 5w output like IC-703, SG 2020,
               FT-7, K2 e.a. and QRP-versions of industrial
               QRO-transceivers like TS-130 V, FT-707S etc..
Stations with QRO-equipment (>20W out) temporarily reduced
to QRP will be listed as checklog.

 Date: 28th/29th D E C E M B E R 2019
               -------------------------------------

        04th/05th July 2020
        02nd/03rd January 2021
        02rd/04th July 2021
        01st/02nd January 2022
        02nd/03rd July 2022
        07th/08th January 2023

Time: Saturday 1500 UTC till Sunday 1500 UTC,
9 hours minimum rest period in one or two parts.
More pauses as you like but the two longest breaks together
need to be at least 9 hours long

Frequencies: CW segments of the 80-, 40-, and 20m band.

Call: CQ OQRP (= Original QRP)

 Categories: V L P (1W out or 2W in) Q R P (5W out or 10W in)
               M P (20W out or 40W in) (No QRO-category)

Operation: Single-op CW. Various TX/TRX may be operated,
but only one at the same time.

 Exchange: RST, serial-no./ category e.g. 559001/VLP.
Exchange of RST is sufficient with stations not in contest.

QSO-Points: The log checker will count 4 points for a qso with another
contest station whose log has come in.
All other QSO count 1 point.

NEW NEW NEW NEW NEW: HANDMADE - BONUS
--------------------------------------------------

Promoting the creative aspects of QRP the usage of equipment
homemade by the operator will be rewarded by a 15% bonus of QSO points
for a TX or TRX assembled from a kit, and by a 30% bonus for an unique
individual handmade TX or TRX.
The Handmade Bonus may be claimed for single bands
while commercial equipment was used on the remaining band(s).

Options for claiming Handmade Bonus points are prepared on the
summary sheet specimen on .
Otherwise (e-logs) the operator has to give a declaration like:
"In the QQRPC I used a kit assembled / an indvidual unique TX resp.TRX
 built by myself on 80m / 40m / 20m".
(Please delete as applicable)

Multiplier: The log checker will count 2 multiplier points for each
               DXCC-country (+ IT9) from a qso with a station whose log has
come in. Otherwise each DXCC-country counts 1 MP point.

Final score: Sum of QSO-points multiplied by the sum of multiplier
points. (Calculated by the log checker. Don't try an own
calculation: you cannot foresee who will send his log and
               who will not).

So every log is welcome and important, even just 3 QSO on a picture
postcard
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Logs: e-mail logs for electronic checking if possible in STF- or
            Cabrillo format to

   oqrpc@qrpcc.de

The Windows-version of LM (DL8WAA) is recommended
for turning "ugly" paper logs into e-mail logs.
Please mention your callsign in the subject line e.g.:
            "32nd OQRPC log by G9XYZ" !
Don't forget possibly to apply for Homemade Bonus points.

In paper logs list QSO sorted bandwise, please.
(Otherwise you might find your log listed as checklog!)
Add the DXCC prefix if you claim a multiplier for a QSO.

You can download a log example at

oqrp.pdf
            See for further infos and
            log-details .

Summary sheet:
The use of the specimen on http://www.qrpcc.de
            is very much recommended.
In any case your summary sheet has to show name, address,
callsign and 9 hours minimum rest periods.
Indicate the types of all TX/TRX used with out- or input on
each band according to manufacturer or measured under
contest conditions. Homebrew TX/TRXs description at least
should name the basic principle (e.g. superheterodyne with
IF or "straight set" like VFO-BU-PA) with pa transistor or
-tube and possibly a reference (e.g. SPRAT No.&page)

Deadline: 31-January-20 to: Lutz Gutheil, DL1RNN, Bergstrasse 17,

Νέα έκδοση του Ham Radio Deluxe η v6.7 είναι τώρα διαθέσιμη

Ham Radio Deluxe v6.7.0.244 Released

The 6.7.0.244 version of Ham Radio Deluxe is now available for download. Please download it from the Download pages on our website at:
If you need an updated software activation key, please read the instructions on our download page.
Over 170 development requests were closed in this release cycle that began in early July 2019. In keeping with our 80/20 objective - 82% of the content was defect correction and 18% was enhancement requests. Significant changes include the following:
! NEW FEATURE ! Ham Radio Deluxe Panadapter Display is released in its initial phase. It was designed to work with compatible radios - ICOM IC-7300, IC-7610, IC-9700, and the Kenwood TS-890S.
(NOTE: Compatible radios must have internal SDR commands that can produce data for software to consume. If you don’t see your radio listed here, the feature won’t work. This feature is available to customers whose Software Maintenance and Support expiration date is later than the feature’s release date. Please use 115,200 baud COM port connection.)
In Rig Control, two radios were added - ICOM IC-9700 and Kenwood TS-890S.
In Logbook, QSL label fonts can be adjusted, HamQTH returned to callsign lookup options, and the callsign lookup function underwent a complete rewrite. (NOTE: Please view the video on our YouTube page that explains the callsign lookup function - www.YouTube.com/HamRadioDeluxe.)
In DM-780, data controller errors eliminated and callsign lookup uses much of the changes made in Logbook.
The remaining changes span Satellite Tracking, HRD Rotator, software activation keys, general maintenance and performance improvements.
You can find the complete release notes at https://ReleaseNotes.HamRadioDeluxe.com

What took so long?

In order to correct bugs and performance problems that customers had reported regarding the callsign lookup function, we decided to completely rewrite it from scratch. Because the original documentation was not created, this turned out to be one of the most complicated changes we’ve ever made. We went through a process of mapping all the available fields from all the callsign lookup options - even the ones we weren’t previously consuming - and coded, tested, coded, tested, coded, and tested. The result is fantastic. It was just a lot of time-consuming hard work in coding, documenting, and testing.
Despite the long development cycle for the 6.7 release, this was the most productive year for product development in the company’s history. Here’s a view of product development over the past five years:
  • In 2019, there were 436 development changes in 6 releases.
  • In 2018, there were 215 development items in 13 releases.
  • In 2017, there were 149 development items in 9 releases.
  • In 2016, there were 42 development items and 4 releases.
  • In 2015, there were 41 development items and 6 releases.
Meanwhile, the volume of automated failure reports going to Microsoft and the number of technical support requests are at an all-time low on an increased overall count of users. For the whole team of developers (Mike, Doug, and Jose), technical support team (Tim, Kevin, and Ferry), the sales & marketing staff (Lindy, Peggy, and Tammy), and our beta testers… thank you!

What we didn’t get to

Whenever we send out these release notices, we quite often get healthy and vigorous feedback from our customers. Most of them ask about the same 4-to-6 items. We’ll try to cover them here.
There are a few things we didn’t get completed in this release. These become our top priorities for the next release. They include:
  • FT4 QSOs confirm on LOTW in some cases, but not in all. This is a big priority for us that will cause us to make some big changes. Much of the work needed to enable us to expand the database schema to add submode was included in the 6.7 release.
  • Update for the IOTA data. (The format has changed and we haven’t gotten the work complete to compile it from its new source.)
  • We didn’t get a chance to include panadapter support for the SDRplay.
  • We haven’t received a specimen of the Yaesu FTdx-101D/MP yet. We are making arrangements for a loaner and will include that as soon as we can get our hands on one.

Install this version of Ham Radio Deluxe.

All those who have purchased Ham Radio Deluxe at any time in the past should download and install this version in order to benefit from all bug fixes. You are entitled to them. Our clients who are covered by an active Software Maintenance and Support period are entitled to Feature Enhancements.

Many leading contesters claim the WAEDC to be the most challenging contest of the year. Being a true blue DX contest, only intercontinental QSOs between DX and Europe are counted (exception is the RTTY part). Therefore the number of DX QSOs here may be similar to the amount of DX usually worked in the CQWW.
Moreover, the unique feature of QTC-traffic adds much fun and another operating challenge to the contest. Here the DX stations transfer real telegrams to the European stations. These telegrams contain data of previously logged QSOs. Each of these records counts one additional point for the sender and the receiver, given that the complete record was logged correctly. Thus, a DX station can actually double its score by sending QTCs. Some European stations, and not only the leading ranks, gain more than 70 percent of their score from QTC traffic.
Hovever, like in any other contest you have to take care about the number of multipliers too. From a DX point of view these are the WAE entities. For the European stations multipliers come from DXCC entities worked and the numerical call areas of several big countries (JA, PY, W, VE, VK, ZL, ZS). Because multipliers are counted per band and on the low bands they count more than on the high bands, there ist significant activity also on 40m and 80m. And remember - every contact is a DX QSO! Reflecting on this, you will work lowband DX as well as highband DX even in the CW part in August as well as in the SSB part in September, despite all seasonal problems in the northern hemisphere. Remember, this part of the year is usually good for lowband activities from the southern hemisphere. For a well equipped station and a dedicated operator worldwide DX is possible on 80m. In addition, the nowadays poor 10m band surprisingly often shows short DX openings with good rates and useful multipliers.
From our point of view, the WAEDCs are significant landmarks in the yearly contest calender, providing highest level radiosport for serious contesters and fun for part time entrants and DXers alike. Join the WAEDC!

Logs need to be uploaded in Cabrillo-Format here:
By submitting an electronic log, the participant claims to fully accept the rules of the contest. A written declaration is not necessary.
Clarification: WAEDC and IARU Bandplan
Dear fellow contesters and participants of our WAEDC contests.
The rule we are discussing today is part of the WAEDC rules for approximately20+ Years! To my knowledge we never ever disqualified or penalized anyone foroperating outside the IARU recommendations.

We might be able to remove the QSOs in question from the scoring, what would be a fair approach for everyone. Some participants detected their mistake and already sent the QSOs as XQSO in their Cabrillo log file.

This way it would not be counted towards the score.
For now we suggest to follow the rules and do NOT operate inside the contest free segments.
You are in very high danger losing these QSOs anyway.

According to IARU recommendations operation should be avoided outside contest-preferred segments.
No operation to take place on:

CW : 3560-3800; 7040-7200; 14060-14350 kHz
SSB: 3650-3700; 7050-7060; 7100-7130; 14100-14125; 14300-14350 kHz.

It is highly recommended to follow the IARU Bandplans at all times.

According to IARU recommendations operation should be avoided outside contest-preferred segments. No operation to take place on:
CW : 3560-3800; 7040-7200; 14060-14350 kHz
SSB: 3650-3700; 7050-7060; 7100-7130; 14100-14125; 14300-14350 kHz
.

3 Categories

  • SINGLE-OP LOW
Max. output 100 watts - all bands. Only one signal permitted at any time.
  • SINGLE-OP HIGH
Output higher than 100 watts - all bands. Only one signal permitted at any time.
  • MULTI-OP
Band changes are allowed every 10 minutes; this includes all activities of a main station, including QSO & QTC traffic and CQing.
Only exception: Working of a multiplier. Other transmitters may be used in parallel to the main station to work multipliers on other bands.
Notes:
  • Transmitters, receivers and antennas used in the contest must be located within a 2 km diameter circle.
  • The use of DX spotting nets is allowed in all categories.

4 Off Times

Single Operator stations may only operate 36 out of the 48-hour contest period.
Off times must be a minimum of 60 minutes during which no QSO or QTC is logged.

5 Exchange

A contest QSO can only be conducted between a European and a non-European station (exception: RTTY, see §12). The exchange consists of RS/RST and a progressive serial number starting with 001. If the station worked does not send a serial number, log the contact with number 000. Each station can be credited only once per band.

6 Multiplier

For non-European stations the multiplier is the number of countries defined in the WAE Country List (see below) worked per band.
For European stations every non-European DXCC entity counts as a multiplier.
Exception: In the following countries up to ten numerical call areas count as multipliers:
W, VE, VK, ZL, ZS, JA, PY and RA8/RA9 and RAØ – without respect to their geographical location.
Examples: W1, K1, KA1 and K3../1 count as W1;
VE1, VO1 und VY1 count as VE1;
JR4, 7M4 und 7K4 count as JA4;
ZL2 and ZL6 are two different multipliers.
Multiplier bonus: Country multiplier points are "weighted" by band. Multiply the number of countries worked on 3.5 MHz by four, on 7 MHz by three, and on 14/21/28 MHz by two. The total multiplier is the sum of the weighted multiplier points of all bands.

7 QTC Traffic

Additional points can be achieved by QTCs. A QTC is the report of a contest QSO back to a European station (exception: RTTY, see §12).
The following rules apply:
  1. A QTC contains time, call sign and serial number of the reported QSO. Example: "1307 DA1AA 431" means that DA1AA was worked at 1307 UTC and sent serial number 431.
  2. Each QSO may only be reported once as a QTC. The QTC may not be reported back to the original station.
  3. Every QTC that was correctly transferred, counts one point for the sender and one point for the receiver.
  4. Two stations may exchange up to 10 QTCs maximum. The two stations may establish contact several times to complete the quota.
  5. QTCs are transferred by means of QTC series. A QTC series is a block of one (minimum) to ten (maximum) QTCs. QTC series are numbered using the following scheme: The first figure is the progressive serial number starting with one; the second figure denotes the number of QTCs in the series. Example: "QTC 3/7" means this is the third QTC series transmitted by this station and it contains seven QTCs.
  6. For every QTC series that is transmitted or received, the QTC number, time and frequency band of the QTC transmission must be logged. If any of this data is missing from your log, no credit will be given for this QTC series.

8 Scoring

The final score is the result of total QSOs plus QTCs on all bands multiplied by the sum of all multipliers weighted by the band bonus factor (see §6).

9 Disqualification

Violation of the rules of the contest or unsportsmanlike conduct will be deemed sufficient cause for disqualification. The decisions of the contest-committee are final.

10 Submissions

Messages to contest manager (no logs): waedc-info(at)dxhf.darc.de
Logs need to be uploaded in Cabrillo-Format here:
By submitting an electronic log, the participant claims to fully accept the rules of the contest. A written declaration is not necessary.

The club score is calculated by adding the final results of all participating club members in all three WAE contests, excluding SWLs. To be counted, the name of the club has to be indicated in the log on a separate header line using the keyword "CLUB".
The club must not be an official national amateur radio club. For a club to be listed, a minimum of three logs must be submitted.
A trophy is sponsored for the top DX (non-EU) and the top EU clubs.
For DL stations participating in the German DARC/VFDB-Clubmeisterschaft put your DOK in the log on a separate header line using the keyword "SPECIFIC".
