27 Απριλίου 1791 γεννήθηκε ο Samuel Finley Breese Morse. (Ο εφευρέτης του κώδικα Μόρς)

Ο Σάμιουελ Μορς (Samuel Finley Breese Morse, 27 Απριλίου 1791 – 2 Απριλίου 1872) ήταν Αμερικανός ζωγράφος και φυσικός, ο εφευρέτης του τηλέγραφου και του διεθνούς κώδικα που φέρει το όνομά του.

Γεννήθηκε στις 27 Απριλίου του 1791 στο Τσαρλτόουν της Μασαχουσέτης. Ήταν βορειοαμερικανικής καταγωγής. Σπούδασε ζωγραφική και γνώρισε αρκετή επιτυχία ως ζωγράφος ήταν μάλιστα και ένας από τους ιδρυτές της Εθνικής Ακαδημίας Ιχνογραφίας των ΗΠΑ. Εκτός από τη ζωγραφική, πολύ σοβαρά ασχολήθηκε ο Μορς με τη φυσική, όπου αφιέρωνε όλες τις ελεύθερες ώρες του.

Για πολύ διάστημα βασάνιζε το μυαλό του η σκέψη της δημιουργίας ενός μηχανήματος, που θα βοηθούσε στη μετάδοση διάφορων μηνυμάτων σε μεγάλη απόσταση. Τέλος κατάφερε με μεγάλη δυσκολία να κατασκευάσει την πρώτη τηλεγραφική συσκευή, την παρουσίαση της οποίας έκανε το πανεπιστήμιο της Νέας Υόρκης το 1837. Τα αποτελέσματα από τη λειτουργία του πρώτου τηλέγραφου ήταν αρκετά ικανοποιητικά και αυτό ώθησε το αμερικανικό κογκρέσο να χρηματοδοτήσει τις παραπέρα έρευνες του Μορς για την τελειοποίηση της συσκευής.

Η πρώτη τηλεγραφική γραμμή ήταν ανάμεσα στην Ουάσιγκτον και τη Βαλτιμόρη. Γρήγορα διαδόθηκε το σύστημα αυτό σε όλα τα κράτη. Στην Ελλάδα ο πρώτος τηλέγραφος λειτούργησε στα 1859. Η λειτουργία του τηλέγραφου στηρίζεται πάνω στα ηλεκτρομαγνητικά κύματα.

Για την ευκολότερη χρήση του τηλέγραφου σε διεθνή κλίμακα, ο Μορς εφηύρε και ειδικό αλφάβητο, το αλφάβητο Μορς, γνωστό και ως Κώδικας Μορς. Το αλφάβητο αυτό δεν έχει γράμματα αλλά τελείες και παύλες που συνδυαζόμενα αντιστοιχούν στα γράμματα του αλφαβήτου και στους αριθμούς 0-9. Και οι στιγμές (τελείες) και οι άλλες γραμμές (παύλες) αντιστοιχούν σε ηλεκτρικά κύματα. Η διάρκεια της στιγμής λαμβάνεται ως μονάδα. Χρονικά, η στιγμή (τελεία) αντιστοιχεί στο 1/6 του δευτερολέπτου. Η γραμμή έχει διάρκεια τρεις φορές μεγαλύτερη (δηλαδή μισό δευτερόλεπτο). Η απόσταση μεταξύ των λέξεων είναι ίση με επτά στιγμές. Η απόσταση μεταξύ των γραμμάτων είναι ίση με τρεις στιγμές, η απόσταση μεταξύ των ίδιων γραμμάτων είναι ίση με μια στιγμή.

Το CQMM DX Contest τρέχει αυτό το Σαββατοκύριακο 18 και 19 Απριλίου 2020

Dear participants,

OM / YL / Club’s and Group’s !

We are pleased to inform you that the result of CQMM DX CONTEST 2019 is available (see below).

Congratulations to all 1243 participants from 118 different DXCC countries, who submitted their LOGs and who participated in this competition sponsored by the CWJF Group, one of the 3 largest CW groups in South America.

This year, the contest database recorded 133.059 QSO’s from all logs received. During the calculation of the result, we were able to validate 121.936 QSO’s (91.64%) of the reported contacts.

We are very happy with the worldwide growth that CQMM DX Contest has been achieving.

In 2019, new records were achieved, especially the two new world records, as well as 16 new continental records. These are the data that prove the consistent growth of the competition that we are obtaining in the international community.

But it is always important to emphasize that the support we receive from radio amateurs, clubs and groups in our country and also from other countries on our continent is very important. Without this support, we might not have made it that far, with this success that has been repeated every year.

We hope to have your participation again in this year’s contest, as you are very important to all of us, or if this year is the first time that you will participate in the contest, know that it will be a great honor for the organizers of CQMM DX CONTEST, and certainly of all other participants.

Invite other amateurs in your country, help us spread the word among clubs and groups and in this way, you will be contributing to have more participants in the contest this year.

Η πρόσκληση για το 2020 SP DX CONTEST το ΣΚ 4 και 5 Απριλίου 2020

We would like to invite you to participate in the SP DX Contest this weekend (April 4-5, 2020) from 1500 UTC Saturday until 1459 UTC Sunday. This is biggest operating event of the year in Poland with typically over 1000 SP stations on the air on both CW and SSB.  For some, it is a competitive event, for others it is a chance to make a QSO with old friends. And for others yet, it is their only contest experience of the year and an opportunity to be seen and heard and to have fun.

 Your participation is very important to us for the continued success of this contest. This contest has a long history, with the first contest held in 1933. We expect a large turnout of SP stations this year. The success of this contest depends on the participation of DX stations like you, whether you are a veteran contester or just enjoy making casual contacts and giving SP stations an opportunity to work DX. It does not matter how much time you can spend and how many QSO’s you can make, we would like to see you in our logs!

We have put a big effort into creating a very interesting and unique Web site – https://spdxcontest.pzk.org.pl After the contest, you can upload your log on the Web or send it via e-mail. All submitted entries will be immediately visible our Web page. We have adopted an open log policy, so after the results are published, all logs will be available for viewing. We also provide interesting statistics on your log and all other logs in the contest.  You can see these by looking at the 2018 and 2019 contest results. Final results will be available by June 30. At that time, certificates of participation for everyone and certificates for top scoring stations by category, country and continent can be downloaded for printing. We also have a long list of plaques which have been sponsored by individuals and groups which you can see on the Web page. Finally, you can qualify for various levels of the POLSKA Award for working the 16 provinces (województwa) of Poland.
