Τι νέο φέρνει το HRD μέχρι το τέλος του χρόνου

Software Development Priorities for 2nd Half of 2020

The purpose of this newsletter is to provide an update on what the HRD developers are working on.

It is planned to have two releases by year’s end.

The first will be a minor release. This release will enable the antenna switch in the FTDX101D/MP to be controlled and will add the ICOM IC-705. We will publish this as soon as the work is complete.

The final release of 2020 is planned for mid-November. This release is planned to be a mix of fixes and features.
  • QSL labeling
  • Google Earth & Mapper improvements
  • Lookup pane issues
  • CQ Marathon award
  • US County data structuring; enable US Counties award tracking
  • Worked Status Indicators (WSIs) added for prefix, continent, CQ zone, ITU zone, CQ Marathon, US State, and US County
  • Bulk callsign lookup
  • Plans to simplify the Logbook UI and create a single configuration screen for the whole suite to guide operators through the configuration process
  • And a couple surprise feature additions

This is the "plan." It's subject to change. But we are committed to it.

We have three (and maybe four) developers working on these releases. We have got sixteen beta testers ready to test them. We have got a few exciting features planned for the November release and the one that follows.

Sometime next year, we will need to take actions on a couple additional items. We are seeing a trend related to support for the 32-bit version of the Microsoft Access Runtime being depreciated by the installation of the 64-bit version of Office 2019. We will need to move away from Access and begin building a 64-bit version of the application (Microsoft no longer allows the 32-bit version of Windows 10 on OEM equipment. It will not be long before 32-bit operating systems will lack support with PC makers and other software makers.)

Finally, as a reminder, we have moved to a single new platform for supportcommunity forums, and the online manual. The feedback on the search capabilities that flow across these modules has been very positive.

I hope you are all safe and well.
